Hot-Rolled Steel Coil

High-strength, durable, and versatile HRC coils for construction, automotive, machinery, and pipeline projects

Premium Hot-rolled Steel Coil for Industrial Applications

Hot-rolled steel coils (HRC) are manufactured from slabs, primarily continuous casting slabs. The slabs are first heated and then rolled through roughing and finishing mills to form steel strips. After exiting the last finishing mill, the high-temperature strip is cooled by laminar flow to the specified temperature and then coiled by a coiler. Once cooled, the coils are processed on finishing lines according to customer requirements, including leveling, straightening, cutting (slitting or shearing), inspection, weighing, packaging, and marking.

Common Grades of Hot-rolled Steel Coil

  • ASTM A36 – Low-carbon structural steel for general construction and fabrication.

  • C1010 / C1018 / C1026 / C1045 – Carbon steel grades for industrial and mechanical applications.

  • A1011 / A500 – Widely used structural and fabrication steel.

  • C1141 – High-quality carbon steel suitable for various manufacturing processes.

Advantages of Hot-rolled Steel Coil

  • Energy-efficient and cost-effective – Hot rolling significantly reduces energy consumption and production costs thanks to high metal plasticity and low deformation resistance.

  • Improved workability – Hot rolling refines coarse casting grains, heals cracks, eliminates casting defects, and transforms the casting structure into a deformation structure, enhancing processing performance.

  • High production efficiency – Large ingots and heavy reduction rolling improve productivity and create favorable conditions for faster rolling speeds, continuous production, and automation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hot-rolled steel coil is made by heating slabs above the recrystallization temperature, rolling them through roughing and finishing mills, and then coiling after cooling. This process improves ductility, toughness, and weldability.

Hot-rolled steel coils are widely used in construction (frames, roofs, floors), automotive (chassis, wheels), machinery, shipbuilding, and pipelines due to their strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness.

Prices are influenced by raw material costs (iron ore, coal), production efficiency, transportation, regional demand, and global steel market trends.

  • ASTM A36 – Low-carbon steel for structural applications.

  • ASTM A1011 – Steel for welded structures and general fabrication.

  • ASTM A1018 – Thicker steel plates and tubular products.
Grade selection depends on application requirements and mechanical properties.

  • Pickling – Removes scale and improves surface quality.

  • Coating – Hot-dip galvanizing or electro-galvanizing enhances corrosion resistance.
Surface treatments improve durability and suitability for harsh environments.
